Lisa McFadden featured in Black Dress II: Homage at Pratt Manhattan Gallery

Black Dress Exhibit II: Homage is a multimedia exhibition on view at Pratt Manhattan Gallery in NYC through March 22, 2025 that celebrates the contributions of the Black fashion diaspora in America.  Two milliners are featured: former guild member Jacqueline Lamont and current member Lisa McFadden

Lisa says "Sugar is a life-sized, handmade hat re-creation from the Mattel Barbie Chapeaux Collection by Byron Lars for the In Earnest Official presentation at New York Fashion Week 2023.” Lars designed at least 19 Barbie dolls and their custom clothes collections since 1997.  Michelle Obama worn a designs from Lars's Beauty Mark line to the 2011 commemoration of September 11th and in a First Family portrait.

I’ve collaborated with In Earnest for several seasons making bespoke headwear for brand partners, Byron Lars and Sheila Gray. It’s always a pleasure.
— Lisa McFadden

Also on display is “Souffle,” one of the headpieces Lisa created for her fashion short film, Journey-Cuba which has screened in New York, Chicago, Tokyo and Paris film festivals.
