Laura Del Villaggio first MG instructor at MMU
The Milliners Guild is proud to share that Laura Del Villaggio is our first member to teach at Millinery Meetup, which occurred in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024 at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Laura is not only a talented milliner but also an expert in fashion and textile history. She has worked as a curator and conservator, vintage dealer, fiber arts instructor and theater costume designer.
At MMU, Laura taught dyeing and blocking parasisal straw, working with puzzle blocks, maximizing design impact with novelty straw weaves, an intro to hatter’s tools and techniques, plus fabric manipulation. Her students were so inspired they worked a lot of overtime on their hat projects, as you’ll see below.
