I was born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel. My first steps in fashion began there with costume design (Israel, NYC and Amsterdam), and while my first formal training and work were in this field, I'd always carried with me a fascination for hat making. I made that fascination a reality when I completed my millinery certificate at FIT in 2016.
During the pandemic in 2020, my family and I moved to a remote ranch in Wyoming. I was inspired by the environment, the cowboy culture and the wild beauty of the west. It's where my millinery business was born--and I haven't stopped creating hats since.
When my family and I returned to the east in 2021, I set up my studio in Westchester County, NY. Though I'm growing my Nami label here, I never forget the many places I have called home (Israel, NYC, Wyoming, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland). My travels continue to be a major source of inspiration for my millinery work. In each place I visit I collect unique materials--new and older/traditional--for my range of wool felt, fur felt and straw fedoras, trilbies, pork pies and cloches.
