Kristin Silverman was drawn to millinery through a background in theatre and a love of period fashions — especially hats of the 1920s, ’30s and ’40s.
Since establishing Silverhill Creative Millinery in late 2012, she has sold her millinery to customers across the United States, and to Canada, Israel, the UK, Australia, Norway, and Hong Kong.
Primarily self-taught, Kristin has also studied with internationally renowned tutors through Millinery Meet-Up and Hat Academy.
Silverhill Creative Millinery is a one-woman millinery studio located in Vermont. Working out of her home studio, Kristin creates one-of-a-kind hats and headpieces completely by hand, using traditional millinery techniques. Designs are sold online, and bespoke orders are also available.
Kristin specializes in vintage-inspired hats for everyday wear. She most loves to work in felt, and her signature styles feature elaborately pleated ribbons or bead embroidery. Kristin has gained a reputation for her focus on the fine details of finishing a hat.
From casual to dressy, Silverhill Creative is all about spreading the joy of hat-wearing. Easily wearable shapes, such as fedoras, berets and cloches, aren’t just for fancy events. They’re an adornment for everyday life. Bring back the hat!
