Barbara J. Volker has been creating hats in New York for over two decades.  While pursuing a post-graduate degree in fashion design at Parsons School of Design she discovered millinery to be the perfect medium for combining life-long passions for art and fashion. She launched her business Barbara J. Volker Millinery in 1992, dedicated to making fine hand-crafted hats using traditional hand-blocking and hand-sewing techniques. 

Working in her Manhattan studio, she draws inspiration from the rich history of fashion, while focusing on the modern aesthetic and lifestyle of the contemporary wearer. From the runway to the everyday, her collections offer headwear for warmth and sun protection, signature styles that make an elegant statement, or extravagant headpieces that will guarantee you the center of attention. Her hats may be seen by appointment at her atelier showroom and are also available through specialty New York boutiques, including Gallery Vercon and The Hat Shop.
